In what’s become the default press anecdote for groups of celebrities who want to seem fun and relatable, Nicole Kidman revealed in her Vanity Fair cover story that the Big Little Lies cast does indeed have a group chat. What makes this one special? Why, it’s exactly what makes Big Little Lies season two special: Meryl’s in it! “Yes,” Kidman tells VF. “And she’s very funny.” (Elsewhere in the profile, Streep refers to Kidman as a “secret, soft Valkyrie,” so you know she has a way with words.) Also, in case you’re wondering if Adam Scott gets to trade memes with Shailene, Zoë, Reese, Nicole, and Meryl, Kidman confirms that this is a women-only chat. “There are no men in our equation,” she says of the cast. “I mean, there are, but they’re not on the group chat, let’s put it that way.” Imagine sitting on set with Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep and they both look at their phones and laugh at the same time and you don’t know what’s happening. The FOMO would be unbearable.
