Early yesterday morning, Shia LaBeouf, the favorite young actor of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Michael Bay, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor drunk driving after his pickup truck hit another car in Los Angeles. LaBeouf, currently in the middle of shooting a follow-up to last summer’s Transformers, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his hand and knee, either of which, if serious (he’ll reportedly be sidelined for a month), could make difficult the stunt work in his rumored upcoming trilogy of Indiana Jones spinoffs.

This isn’t the first time the star of Disturbia (and its planned sequel) has had trouble with the law; last November, he was arrested for trespassing at a Walgreens in Chicago, where he was filming Eagle Eye with director D.J. Caruso, who’s recently expressed an interest in casting the star in films based on Brian K. Vaughan’s comic book series Y: The Last Man. LaBeouf was given an August court date and released without bail. If he’s found guilty, it’s feared Hollywood could be forced to come up with an original idea for once.
