Over on Deadline Hollywood Daily, Nikki Finke publishes an e-mail from Hollywood Elsewhere blogger Jeffrey Wells to 3:10 to Yuma director James Mangold, thanking Mangold for the movie’s topless scene with actress Vinessa Shaw and begging Mangold to slip him some on-set stills of the scene. Finke takes Wells to task, saying the e-mail “truly sickened” her. She also posts Wells’s spirited response:

I’m going to pass along a major shocker to you, but you’d better sit down first. Ready? Guys like naked women — actresses, amateurs, Helmut Newton models, French politicians … anywhere and under almost any circumstance. They dream about naked women, compare notes about naked women, ogle pictures of naked women. I think it’s icky to loudly proclaim such interests, [which] is why I confine my enthusiasms along these lines to guys I know and (ahem) trust…

We have a few questions.

1. Who would ever have thought that Wells would sort of outplay Nikki Finke in this debate, though sheer force of sleaziness?

2. Who is Vinessa Shaw?

3. Oh.

4. What time is today’s first showing of 3:10 to Yuma?

5. WAIT A MINUTE! Bloggers can get directors to send them pictures of naked ladies? Hey, we’re bloggers! “Dear Nigel Cole, we really enjoyed your film Calendar Girls, especially the part where sexagenarian hottie Helen Mirren gets her kit off. Can you send us some stills? Sincerely, Vulture.”
